This historical park contains several temple structures including Prasat Ta Muean and Prasat Si Khoraphum arranged across hilly terrain with intricate stone construction. The buildings display typical Khmer architectural features such as central towers, outer walls, and connecting passages between different areas of the complex.
The complex was built between the 10th and 12th centuries during Khmer Empire rule and initially served as Hindu sanctuaries. Over time, parts of the site were adapted to function as healing centers that treated people from surrounding regions.
The temples display carved stone reliefs and inscriptions showing Hindu deities and cosmic scenes that reflect the spiritual world of the Khmer people. Walking through the grounds, you see how religious imagery was woven into the physical structures of daily sacred life.
The site is best reached by car and the paths between temples are well-developed with some paved sections. Wear sturdy shoes and bring plenty of water along with sun protection, as the terrain is hilly and several areas are exposed to direct sunlight.
Part of the complex functioned as an ancient hospital where Khmer healers treated patients and shared medical knowledge with students. Such medical facilities were scattered across northeastern Thailand and reveal how advanced Khmer society was in matters of public health and care.
