Hua Hin beach, Beach resort in Hua Hin, Thailand
Hua Hin beach is a long sandy shore on the Gulf of Thailand coast, located in the resort town of Hua Hin. The sand is pale and the water is generally calm and shallow, sloping gently toward the sea over a wide stretch of coastline.
The beach gained national attention in the 1920s when the Thai king chose the area as a personal retreat. That royal connection turned what had been a small fishing village into one of the country's first recognized resort towns.
In the early morning, fishing boats and nets line parts of the shore as local fishermen go about their daily work. This gives the beach a dual character that visitors rarely see at other resort destinations in Thailand.
The beach is easy to walk along and most of the shore is accessible on foot without difficulty. Shade rentals, loungers, and food vendors are available at many points along the waterfront, so you do not need to bring much with you.
Early in the morning, fresh fish is sold directly from returning boats along the shore, before most visitors arrive. This brief window offers a look at the beach as it has functioned for generations, long before it became a destination.
