Sathorn Unique Tower

Sathorn Unique Tower is an unfinished skyscraper with 49 floors that rises approximately 185 meters into the Bangkok skyline, distinguished by curved balconies and classical columns across its concrete facade. The structure sits along Charoen Krung Road near Saphan Taksin Station and stands across from Wat Yan Nawa temple.

Construction began in 1990 but came to an abrupt halt in 1997 during the Asian financial crisis when Thailand faced severe economic troubles. The project was never resumed and the building has remained frozen in its incomplete state ever since.

Locals call it the Ghost Tower, a name that reflects the dark history and eerie reputation the building has developed over time. The nickname has become so common that few people use its official name when talking about this spot.

The tower is easy to spot from Charoen Krung Road as it stands out prominently from the surrounding buildings and can be reached on foot from nearby transit stations. Visitors should know that the interior is not accessible and the building can only be viewed from the street or nearby areas.

The building's story is intertwined with serious legal troubles that affected its funding and progress on site. These complications made the tower a symbol of how real-world complications can freeze a major construction project indefinitely.
