East Asiatic Building, Renaissance Revival building in Bang Rak, Thailand.
The East Asiatic Building is a three-story structure in Bang Rak with distinctive semicircular-arched windows, a central portico, and a grand staircase at its main entrance. The facade displays Renaissance Revival features that set this building apart from other riverfront structures.
The building was completed around 1900 under the direction of Italian architect Annibale Rigotti and then served as headquarters for the East Asiatic Company. This office building played an important role in Bangkok's commercial history along the riverfront.
The building received the ASA Architectural Conservation Award in 1984, recognizing its contribution to Thai architectural heritage.
The building sits on the eastern bank of the Chao Phraya River and is easily accessible from various riverside locations. Today it is used for commercial events and film productions, so visiting hours may vary.
Asset World Corporation plans to transform this historical structure into a Plaza Athénée hotel by 2026, in partnership with Nobu Hospitality.
