Puey Park for People and Sustainability, Educational park at Thammasat University in Khlong Luang, Thailand.
Puey Park for People and Sustainability is an educational park on Thammasat University's campus with a three-story building, basement level, and modern facilities. The rooftop holds a large organic farm arranged in terraced patterns, while the basement provides parking for numerous vehicles.
The park opened in December on Constitution Day to honor the 100th anniversary of Professor Puey Ungphakorn at the Rangsit campus. This opening marked a milestone in developing the grounds for sustainability and democratic principles.
The park is divided into four sections representing the ideals of people, liberty, equality, and fraternity. Statues of historical figures are placed throughout to embody these values.
Visitors can easily walk through the building and explore all four sections, which are accessible with clear paths and signage. It helps to arrive in the morning when crowds are smaller and the rooftop garden is visibly active with crops and plants.
The building's outer wall is made of one million clay bricks forming a distinctive decorative pattern. This unusual material choice connects tradition with modern sustainability principles in a visible way.
