Wat Chaloem Phra Kiat Phrachomklao Rachanusorn, Buddhist temple complex in Wichet Nakhon, Thailand.
Wat Chaloem Phra Kiat is a temple complex featuring white and golden pagodas positioned on mountain peaks and connected by staircases that weave through rocky terrain at different elevations. Religious structures sit across multiple summits, making the complex spread throughout the landscape rather than concentrated in one area.
Construction of this temple took place over two years starting in 2004, with materials transported by 46 workers across mountain paths under guidance of a monk from Lampang. The project resulted in the creation of religious structures across multiple peaks in the region.
This temple honors King Rama IV through its architectural choices and incorporates traditional Thai Buddhist design practices. The placement on mountaintops gives spiritual structures a setting where nature and devotion come together.
Parking is available at the base of the mountain, where visitors can choose between hiking for about 30 minutes or taking a pickup truck to reach the temple. The site is open during daylight hours from 8 AM to 4:30 PM.
The temple features 540 steps distributed across multiple mountain peaks, with bells installed at many points that sound when the wind blows. These bells create changing sounds that fill the mountain landscape as weather conditions shift.
