Attaqwa Mosque

Attaqwa Mosque is a place of worship on the eastern bank of the Ping River with white and green walls that combine Islamic architecture with local building styles. Inside, the space is divided into areas for men and women, and it also includes a school section for religious education.

The mosque was founded between 1967 and 1969 by Chinese and local Muslims and is one of seven Islamic buildings in Chiang Mai Province. It emerged from the established presence of Muslim traders who had settled in the region.

The mosque reflects the presence of the Muslim community in Chiang Mai and serves as a gathering place for believers from different backgrounds. The prayer spaces show how religious life is lived here and what role this place plays in the daily routine of the community.

The mosque is open daily for the five prayer times and visitors should dress modestly and remove shoes before entering the prayer hall. The location is near the river and is walkable from the Wat Gate area.

The community maintains connections to educational institutions in Kunming, China, reflecting the historic trade routes where cotton and tobacco were transported from the region. This link shows how old trading relationships remain alive today in religious and school institutions.
