Wat Ang Sila

Wat Ang Sila is a temple featuring two ordination halls, several pavilions, and ancient stupas with elaborate mural paintings covering the interior walls. The grounds bring together different building types arranged within a single complex that developed over many decades.

The temple traces its roots to the late Ayutthaya Period and began as two separate temples that merged into one complex in 1916. This combination shaped the layout visitors see today.

The interior murals tell the story of Buddha's life through detailed painted scenes that reflect the artistic traditions of their era. These works remain visible today and offer visitors insight into the religious narratives that held meaning for the community.

The location is roughly 5 kilometers from Chonburi's center and relatively easy to reach. Visitors should allow time to explore the various buildings and areas spread across the grounds.

The temple's gables are decorated with Chinese porcelain, reflecting the arrival of Teochew Chinese migrants in the region. These decorative details reveal how different cultures merged in the architecture.
