Wat Tha Kwian

Wat Tha Kwian is a temple in Phanom Sarakham with traditional Thai architecture and a concrete ordination hall. Multiple pavilions and approximately 13 wooden monk residences surround the main structures on the extensive grounds.

The temple was founded in 1825 by local farmers as a resting point for traders transporting goods through the region by cart. It later developed into an important center for the Buddhist community.

The temple maintains two schools where monks and novices study Buddhist teachings and the Pali language. These institutions shape the religious life of the community and draw students from across the region.

The temple spreads across a large area that can be easily explored on foot. Visitors should wear appropriate clothing and show respect toward the monks when visiting the facilities.

The grounds received official recognition as consecrated territory in 1975 and gained royal designation status. This formal acknowledgment underscores the place's significance within the regional Buddhist community.
