Zembra and Zembretta Islands National Park

The national park spans two Mediterranean islands, with Zembra covering 369 hectares and reaching 432 meters above sea level, while Zembretta extends 2 hectares.

Ancient mariners referred to these islands as Aegimuri, as documented by Pliny the Elder, with remnants of an ancient harbor still visible on Zembra's southern coast.

The islands maintain their natural state under protection of the Tunisian Coast Guard, preserving both the native wildlife and archaeological traces of past civilizations.

Visitors require special permits to access the islands, and transportation is available only through authorized boat services from mainland Tunisia.

The park houses the Mediterranean's largest colony of Scopoli's shearwaters, with 20,000 breeding pairs nesting along the rocky cliffs.
