Sidi Salem Dam

Sidi Salem Dam rises 73 meters high and extends 345 meters across the Medjerda River, creating a substantial water reservoir with a storage capacity of 650 million cubic meters.

The construction of this engineering structure occurred between 1977 and 1981, marking a substantial advancement in Tunisia's water management infrastructure.

The dam connects the communities of the Medjerda Valley by providing essential water resources that support traditional agricultural practices and local development.

Visitors can access the dam via paved roads from Testour, located 6 kilometers southeast, while the structure generates 12 megawatts of hydroelectric power for the region.

This facility maintains a spillway capacity of 4,300 cubic meters per second, making it an essential component for controlling water flow in northern Tunisia.
