Sidi Salem Dam

Sidi Salem Dam is an embankment dam built across the Medjerda River in northern Tunisia, forming a large water reservoir that supplies the region. The structure serves as a central water management facility for the surrounding communities and agricultural areas.

Construction of this facility took place between 1977 and 1981, representing an important addition to Tunisia's water management systems. Since completion, it has played a central role in controlling water resources across the northern regions.

The dam connects the communities of the Medjerda Valley by providing essential water resources that support traditional agricultural practices and local development.

The site can be reached by paved roads from the nearby town of Testour, making access straightforward for most visitors. Clear visibility of the structure and reservoir is best during seasons when water levels are stable and the surrounding landscape is accessible.

This facility maintains a spillway capacity of 4,300 cubic meters per second, making it an essential component for controlling water flow in northern Tunisia.
