Saint Thérèse of Lisieux Church

Saint Thérèse of Lisieux Church features a tall bell tower rising forty meters above its eight-meter-wide stone nave in central Menzel Bourguiba.

The construction of the church began in 1908 during the French protectorate period, starting with a wooden structure before evolving into a stone building.

The church received two bells in 1930, with one dedicated to Saint Thérèse of the Child Jesus, who became the patron saint of this religious edifice.

The religious building now functions as a public library following its transfer to the Tunisian government in 1964 after the Christian population decreased.

The church witnessed a significant transformation in its congregation size, from 2,000 practitioners in the 1950s to approximately fifty after the 1961 Bizerte crisis.
