Lake Ichkeul

Lake Ichkeul is a freshwater body in northern Tunisia that forms the heart of a protected area with diverse wetland habitats. The region supports numerous water bird species and provides different environments for aquatic life throughout the year.

The water becomes saltier or fresher depending on the season, attracting different bird species at different times. This natural shift makes the lake a stopping point for birds that need specific water conditions during their travels.
