Çekmeköy

Çekmeköy is a municipal district on Istanbul's Asian side that combines residential areas with natural forests. The neighborhood features established housing zones alongside newer residential developments and green spaces.

The area began as a small settlement during Sultan Selim II's time, when local people harvested timber from surrounding forests and sold it to nearby Üsküdar. Over centuries, it transformed from a forested region into a modern residential district with many construction projects.

The district is connected to central Istanbul by multiple bus lines, making regular visits or temporary stays convenient. Infrastructure improvements are ongoing to enhance transportation connections for both residents and visitors.

The district is home to Özyeğin University's campus, a modern academic institution set within the neighborhood. This university draws students from across Istanbul and shapes the character of the area through its buildings and student life.
