Çekmeköy

Çekmeköy is a municipal district on Istanbul's Asian side that combines residential areas with natural forests. The neighborhood features established housing zones alongside newer residential developments and green spaces.

The area began as a small settlement during Sultan Selim II's time, when local people harvested timber from surrounding forests and sold it to nearby Üsküdar. Over centuries, it transformed from a forested region into a modern residential district with many construction projects.

The district is home to Özyeğin University's campus, a modern academic institution set within the neighborhood. This university draws students from across Istanbul and shapes the character of the area through its buildings and student life.
