Akhisar

The Akhisar district covers 1,645 square kilometers of land in western Turkey, positioned 81 kilometers from Izmir at an elevation of 93 meters.

The area corresponds to ancient Thyatira, which gained importance under Persian rule around 500 BC and later became a Roman regional center in 214 AD.

The district maintains strong agricultural traditions with extensive tobacco fields that contribute to ten percent of Turkish national tobacco production.

The industrial zone along State Highway 565 connects the district to major ports while specializing in automotive repairs and olive oil manufacturing.

Excavations at Tepemezari uncovered a rectangular Roman structure, while ancient stones and column heads remain scattered throughout the modern town.
