Manisa Archeology Museum

The Manisa Archeology Museum is housed in a former school building divided into three sections, displaying artifacts spanning from prehistoric times through the 20th century. The rooms present objects recovered through excavations in the surrounding region.

The museum was established in 1937 and operated for many years before undergoing major renovation and reopening in 2012. It occupies a historic building complex designed by the renowned architect Mimar Sinan.

The exhibits show objects from ancient Magnesia and Sardes, including marble figures and items from Lydian times. You can see how people in this region lived and what crafts they practiced.

The museum is located roughly 40 kilometers northeast of Izmir and is fairly accessible. The exhibition spreads across multiple rooms, so plan enough time to explore each section at a comfortable pace.

The museum preserves rare gold sheep figurines and silver vessels from an ancient mound called Gökçeler. These pieces rank among the most valuable objects in the collection and demonstrate the metalworking skill of ancient craftspeople.
