Laskaris Palace

Laskaris Palace remains stand on elevated ground with visible stone walls and architectural elements from the Byzantine period. The site shows the original layout and construction methods used to build such noble residences.

The palace was built around 1300 as a winter residence for the Laskaris family during their Byzantine rule. The ruins reflect an important period of medieval power in this region.

The structure shows how Byzantine builders designed noble residences, using methods and materials that are still visible in its remains today.

A marked path leads to the ruins from central Kemalpaşa, located about 29 kilometers east of İzmir. The elevated location makes it easy to navigate and provides good views of the surrounding area.

The ruins preserve the original Byzantine floor plan and display construction techniques that shaped regional architecture for centuries. These practical building solutions used on elevated ground can be traced in later structures throughout the area.
