Sultangazi, Administrative district in northern Istanbul, Turkey
Sultangazi is an administrative district in northern Istanbul that lies between the TEM highway and Alibey Dam. The area incorporates multiple residential neighborhoods and serves as part of the city's expanding urban landscape.
The district was created in 2008 through consolidation of areas from three neighboring districts: Gaziosmanpaşa, Eyüpsultan, and Esenler. This administrative reorganization reflected the growing needs of the northern urban region.
The district maintains multiple cultural centers, including Aşık Veysel and Nene Hatun, which provide educational programs and artistic activities for residents.
Visitors can explore the area using local buses and minibuses that connect the various residential neighborhoods. Since it is a heavily urbanized area, most locations are accessible on foot or by public transportation.
A former quarry within the area, the Cebeci Quarry, continues stone extraction operations while serving as an industrial heritage site. This blend of active production and historical interest provides a rare glimpse into resource extraction within a major city.
