Hasankeyf

The ancient settlement occupies both banks of the Tigris River, featuring numerous caves, rock formations, and structural remains from multiple civilizations.

Between the 12th and 15th centuries, Hasankeyf developed into a major commercial center under Artukid and Ayyubid rule along the Silk Road.

The site contains religious structures from different periods, including medieval Islamic architecture, demonstrating the evolution of building techniques through centuries.

The archaeological area has been partially submerged due to the Ilisu Dam project, with many artifacts relocated to the New Hasankeyf Cultural Park.

Over 300 medieval monuments were documented in Hasankeyf before the flooding, making it one of the largest medieval archaeological sites in Turkey.
