Batman Province, Province in southeastern Turkey.
Batman is a province in southeastern Turkey that spreads across wide plateaus near the Tigris River. The landscape consists of flat-topped hills and dry valleys, with Raman Mountain rising to about 1300 meters as the highest point.
The region gained importance after 1940 when oil reserves were found and a small settlement grew into a center for extraction. Provincial status followed in 1990.
The population of Batman Province includes Kurdish communities who maintain their traditions while participating in the modern industrial development of the region.
Most travelers pass through on their way between larger cities or visit the old bridge at the western edge. Summer can be dry and very hot, while spring and autumn offer milder conditions.
The Batman River forms the western boundary and is crossed at Malabadi by a medieval bridge. The structure shows traces from several eras and appears almost like a mirage in the bare surroundings.
