Seferihisar

Seferihisar district extends over 375 square kilometers, stretching from inland areas toward the Aegean Sea with multiple neighborhoods and a coastal section.

The district contains archaeological remains of ancient cities including Teos, Myonnesos, and Lebedos, reflecting its significance during Ionian settlement periods.

The district maintains traditional markets where local producers sell citrus fruits, particularly tangerines and satsumas, alongside regional crafts and seafood.

Located 45 kilometers from Izmir center, Seferihisar connects to the metropolis through a six-lane highway, with population increasing to 150,000 during tourist season.

In 2009, Seferihisar became the first Turkish member of Cittaslow, implementing practices that support local traditions and sustainable community development.
