Çadır Höyük

Çadır Höyük is an artificial mound that rises prominently above the surrounding valley and covers a large area near Sorgun. The site contains multiple layers of settlement remains from different periods of occupation.

Settlement at this location began in the Middle Chalcolithic period and continued through many centuries into the Byzantine era. The site shows how people occupied and used this area across vastly different historical times.

Pottery found here shows trade connections between southeastern Europe and the Caucasus in ancient times. The artifacts suggest this was an important place where different regions exchanged goods and ideas.

Researchers conduct regular excavations at the site to understand the ancient occupation and settlement patterns. Visitors should be aware that the area is an active dig site and may require appropriate footwear and sun protection.

Scientists have collected charcoal samples from multiple levels of the mound to precisely date the different occupation layers. These detailed findings help researchers understand the timeline of prehistoric and historical periods in the region with greater accuracy.
