TGC Press Media Museum, Press media museum in Çemberlitaş, Turkey
The TGC Press Media Museum is housed in a four-story neoclassical building from 1865 displaying printing equipment and archives related to Turkish journalism history. The exhibition documents the development of journalism and media in Turkey through objects and records spanning different periods.
The museum was established in 1988 after Istanbul's municipality and the Journalists Association converted a former municipal building into an exhibition space. This transformation reflected growing interest in preserving and documenting the nation's media history.
The collection displays oil paintings of notable Turkish journalists alongside their personal belongings that document their lives. A dedicated section honors reporters who lost their lives in the course of their work.
Access is straightforward thanks to proximity to the T1 tram line, making arrival simple. Entry is free and hours are limited to weekdays during set times.
The museum maintains a specialized library holding newspapers, periodicals, and books from different periods of Turkish media history. A reading room allows visitors to research and study historical publications within this extensive collection.
