Mount Nemrut National Park, National park with ancient ruins in Adıyaman Province, Turkey
Mount Nemrut National Park features massive stone heads and sculptures placed at an elevation of 2,134 meters above sea level.
King Antiochus I of Commagene ordered the construction of a monumental tomb complex on Mount Nemrut during the first century BCE.
The statues and architectural elements combine Persian, Armenian and Greek artistic styles, reflecting the multicultural nature of the Commagene Kingdom.
Visitors can access the site through organized tours from Adıyaman Airport or Kahta town, with summer offering the most favorable conditions.
The stone heads, measuring up to 9 meters in height, remain partially buried under the 50-meter-high artificial mountain peak.
