Adıyaman Province

Adıyaman Province is located in southeastern Turkey and comprises nine districts with varied geography including mountains, valleys, and river systems throughout the region. The terrain shifts noticeably as you move through the different parts.

The province holds several ancient archaeological sites including Roman structures and prehistoric settlements like Tille Höyük that date back thousands of years. These sites reveal that people lived and built here throughout long periods of history.

Local food traditions rely on ingredients grown nearby and recipes passed down through generations, with seasonal vegetables and grains prepared in ways families have used for ages. Walking through markets and eating in restaurants, you notice these same dishes served everywhere.

The region is accessed through Adiyaman Airport, situated about 30 kilometers from the provincial capital with regular domestic flights available. Flying is the quickest way to reach this area.

Mount Nemrut within the province features massive stone heads and statues built by King Antiochus I that stand like guardians at 2,134 meters elevation. These colossal figures rank among the oldest and largest monuments of their kind.
