Balıklıgöl

Balıklıgöl is a body of water in the heart of Şanlıurfa fed by natural springs that form several interconnected pools filled with protected carp. The water remains clear, making it easy to see the hundreds of dark grey fish swimming throughout the site.

According to tradition, the springs emerged when King Nimrod attempted to execute Prophet Abraham, and miraculously flames transformed into water. This pivotal moment remains central to the site's religious meaning and the reverence visitors feel when present.
