Malatya Yeni Mosque, Ottoman mosque in Malatya, Turkey
The building exhibits traditional Ottoman architecture with a central dome supported by four stone pillars and five sections in the courtyard entrance.
After the original Haci Yusuf Mosque burned down in 1889, Sultan Abdulhamid II supported the construction of this new mosque, completed in 1913.
The mosque serves as the central prayer facility in Malatya, hosting daily prayers and religious ceremonies throughout the Islamic calendar year.
Visitors can access the mosque through its northern entrance, where they will find 24 ablution fountains and a spacious courtyard for preparations.
The entrance door features a poetic inscription by Malatya resident Aksoghanoglu Haci Ali Osman Efendi, carved into the stone surface.
