New Kömürhan Bridge

The New Kömürhan Bridge is a cable-stayed road crossing that spans 660 meters over the Euphrates River with a single main pylon supporting the roadway. It is built from concrete and steel to carry vehicles between two provinces.

An earlier bridge built in 1986 connected the provinces before being replaced by this newer structure, which opened in 2021. The replacement allowed the region to benefit from modern engineering and improved travel conditions.

The bridge links two provinces that were previously isolated from each other, making it easier for people to cross and conduct business between regions. It has become an important symbol of connection in Eastern Anatolia.

The bridge is designed for cars and trucks and provides a safe crossing over the river. Pay attention to changing weather, especially wind conditions in this open area spanning the water.

The structure ranks among the longest of its type globally and uses more than 900 tons of cable strands to support its main span. This engineering approach makes it a notable example of how modern bridges handle extreme distances.
