Günpınar Waterfall, Natural cascade in Darende, Turkey
Günpınar Waterfall drops in three distinct stages, with the upper cascade falling 13 meters, the middle section 4 meters, and the lower drop 8 meters. The water originates from the Şuhul Stream, which travels through a 2-kilometer canyon before reaching this tiered formation.
The waterfall was originally called Aşudu Waterfall, taking its name from a nearby village before being renamed Gürpınar and later Günpınar. These name changes reflect evolving local usage and references over time.
This place attracts locals and visitors who gather to enjoy outdoor meals and leisure time in the natural surroundings.
You can reach this waterfall by taking an asphalt road for about 5 kilometers from the main E24 Kayseri-Malatya highway, with clear signs guiding you to the entrance. The well-marked route makes access straightforward for most visitors.
The stream passes through an impressive canyon about 60 meters deep before creating the visible cascade, a fact many visitors overlook. Few people realize that the most dramatic part of the water's journey happens unseen in this upstream gorge.
