Kayseri Clock Tower

Kayseri Clock Tower, Clock tower in Cumhuriyet Square, Melikgazi, Turkey.

Kayseri Clock Tower is a stone structure in Cumhuriyet Square featuring four clock faces that are visible from different directions. The tower has a straightforward vertical form and dominates the central area with its presence.

The tower was built in 1906 when Sultan Abdulhamid II ordered clock towers across the Ottoman Empire as a modernization effort. Governor Haydar Bey oversaw the project as part of broader urban updates for the city.

The tower reflects a blend of Ottoman and early modern design elements visible in its stonework details. It functions as a visual landmark that shapes how people experience the central square.

The tower is centrally located and accessible at all hours, making it easy to find. Visiting during daylight hours allows you to see the details and surroundings clearly.

Master builder Tavlusunlu Salih Usta constructed the tower using local stone, and it has kept time for over a century. This crafted approach using regional materials gave the structure its lasting solidity.
