İsmet İnönü House Museum

The İsmet İnönü House Museum occupies a four-story white mansion on Heybeliada island, holding original furnishings and personal belongings from Turkey's second president. The rooms preserve the interior as it appeared during his residence there.

The mansion was built in the 19th century by the Mavromatis family and became İsmet İnönü's residence in 1924 when he served as prime minister. The house marks an important period in Turkey's nation-building years.

The rooms display personal belongings and photographs that reflect daily life during the early years of the Turkish Republic under İnönü's leadership. You can observe how political leaders lived and conducted their affairs during this formative period.

You can reach the museum by ferry from mainland Istanbul to Heybeliada, which takes roughly half an hour. It helps to check ferry schedules in advance since connections vary depending on the season.

Many of the furnishings in the house originally belonged to Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and were gifted to İnönü's family in 1934, reflecting the close bond between the two leaders. These pieces form some of the collection's most valued elements.
