Zhonghe District, Administrative district in New Taipei, Taiwan
Zhonghe District extends across 20.29 square kilometers of land, containing both urban zones and forested hills reaching 302 meters in elevation.
The region, recorded as Chiron by Dutch colonizers, transformed from a rural township of 30,000 residents in 1946 to a major district with over 400,000 inhabitants.
The district features the National Taiwan Library, Hongludi Temple, and Burma Street, where Burmese Chinese residents maintain their traditions through food and celebrations.
The New Taipei Metro system serves the district through the Zhonghe-Xinlu and Circular lines, connecting residents to different areas of the metropolitan region.
Ninety-three villages form this district, which shares administrative functions with neighboring Yonghe after their separation in 1958.
