Nanshijiao, Metro station in Zhonghe District, Taiwan
Nanshijiao is an underground metro station in Zhonghe District with four levels and an island platform connecting to multiple bus routes throughout the city. The station serves as a major transit hub with access points to surrounding streets.
The station opened in December 1998 on the site of the former Zhonghe Railway Station, which had operated until 1990. The replacement by the modern metro facility reflected the region's growing transportation needs.
The station displays twelve sculptures titled 'Youth Melody' by artist Jun Lai throughout the space, with works mounted on walls and ceilings that add artistic character to the corridors.
Four exits provide access to different surrounding streets, making it easy for visitors to navigate and find their destination. Checking which exit matches your intended direction beforehand helps save time in the station.
The Taipei Metro Zhonghe Depot operates on the southeast side of the station, managing all technical operations for the metro line. This maintenance facility remains hidden from public view but shapes the area's character.
