Anping is a district on the western coast of Tainan that blends modern neighborhoods with historical structures from different eras. The area covers roughly eleven square kilometers and combines old buildings with current urban features.
The Dutch East India Company built Fort Zeelandia in 1624, marking the start of European colonial rule in Taiwan. This fort later became known as Anping Fort and shaped the district's history.
