Luodong Township

Luodong is a township in Yilan County with residential areas, commercial streets, and a busy downtown center that developed across a valley floor. The area is connected by a railway line that runs through the center and bus routes that link neighborhoods.

In the early 1900s, Japanese administrators built timber processing plants that made this place an important industrial center. Forestry remained a major part of the region's economy and identity for decades.

The night market here is where residents gather to eat and socialize, reflecting how the community has long centered around food and local traditions. Stalls offer regional specialties like scallion pancakes and other Taiwanese street foods that have remained popular for generations.

The railway station makes it easy to arrive by train, and bus routes connect the different parts of the township. The flat terrain means walking is comfortable and bicycles are a practical way to get around.

The Forestry Culture Park displays old sawmills and worker housing that tell the story of the timber era. Walking through these structures gives a sense of how industrial work shaped the settlement and drew people here.
