Budai Township

Budai Township covers 61.7 square kilometers along Taiwan's western coast, encompassing 23 villages with a population of 25,267 residents as of 2022.

Japanese forces utilized Budai, formerly known as Po-te-chhui, as a strategic landing point during their military campaign to capture Tainan in 1895.

The township maintains numerous temples where residents participate in traditional ceremonies and festivals that reflect Chinese religious practices and local customs.

Budai Harbor functions as a primary transportation center, connecting the township to other regions while supporting the local fishing industry and maritime trade.

The township contains the Haomeiliao Wetland, which serves as a natural habitat for various water birds and supports the local ecosystem.
