Budai Township

Budai Township is a coastal administrative division in Chiayi County along Taiwan's western shore, made up of multiple villages spread across the lowland area. The harbor serves as a central hub for maritime activity, supporting both transportation and the fishing trade that sustains local livelihoods.

The area served as a strategic landing zone when Japanese forces arrived in 1895 during their campaign in southern Taiwan. Its former name, Po-te-chhui, marks this pivotal moment in the region's past.
