Xiluo Temple, Chinese temple in West Central District, Taiwan.
Xiluo Temple is a Chinese temple in Tainan's West Central District featuring traditional architecture with fine wooden carvings and decorated roof tiles throughout. The grounds include multiple ceremonial halls and various incense burners positioned across the different spaces.
The temple was founded in 1718 when six members of the Guo family brought the deity Guang Ze Zun Wang from Quanzhou in China. The sanctuary has since developed into a significant religious center for the local community.
The temple is dedicated to Guang Ze Zun Wang, a deity revered as a protector of fortune in the Minnan region. Visitors can observe daily worship practices and see how local people offer incense and prayers at the main altar.
The temple sits on Heping Street in the West Central area and welcomes daily visitors who can watch religious ceremonies and worship rituals. Visiting during early morning or evening hours is best, as these are the most active times for devotional activities.
During the deity's birthdays in February and August, the sanctuary performs the fenling ritual, dividing the divine blessing into smaller statues for worshippers. This ritual is a rare phenomenon practiced in only a few temples in the region.
