Kaiji Kaishan Temple

Kaiji Kaishan Temple is a Buddhist temple in West Central District with a main hall elevated on a stone platform and framed by overhanging eaves supported by columns. The building displays traditional architectural features and has halls dedicated to prayer and worship.

The temple was transformed in 1928 when its main hall became an educational facility, shifting away from its original religious functions. This change reflected the social developments and priorities of that period in Taiwan.

The temple serves as a place where locals come to worship Baosheng and honor the memory of Chen Leng, a military figure from ancient China. It acts as a gathering space where the community celebrates seasonal festivals and observes traditional practices together.

The temple is open to visitors daily who wish to observe religious activities or participate in ceremonies held here. Visiting during daytime hours allows you to experience the place when activities are most active.

The temple houses a bronze bell cast in 1695 that remains on display in one of its halls, making it one of the oldest of its kind in Taiwan. This object reflects the craftsmanship of its era and the temple's long continuity.
