Former Anping Office of the Tainan Branch of the Taiwan Governor-General's Monopoly Bureau
Former Anping Office of the Tainan Branch of the Taiwan Governor-General's Monopoly Bureau, Colonial administrative building in Anping District, Tainan, Taiwan
The building features reinforced concrete construction with combined Japanese and Western architectural elements visible throughout its external structure and interior spaces.
Constructed in 1924 during Japanese rule, this office regulated the production and distribution of salt, tobacco, and other monopolized goods in Taiwan.
The architectural design reflects the Japanese colonial influence on Taiwan through its fusion of Eastern and Western building techniques and decorative patterns.
The former office provides guided tours in multiple languages, explaining the building's role in Taiwan's monopoly system during the Japanese administration period.
The structure remains one of the few preserved examples of Japanese colonial administrative buildings dedicated to economic control in southern Taiwan.
