National Taiwan University Hospital is a teaching hospital in Zhongzheng District, Taipei, that operates two main sites, East and West, and employs more than 4,000 doctors, nurses and medical staff. More than 10,000 patients visit the outpatient clinics, wards and departments at both locations each day.
The hospital opened in 1895 under Japanese colonial rule in Dadaocheng and moved to its current site in central Taipei three years later, in 1898. Since then it has trained medical students and treated patients from across the island and beyond.
