Nangang Bottle Cap Factory, Cultural heritage monument in Taipei, Taiwan.
Nangang Bottle Cap Factory is an industrial building with concrete walls, large metal gates, and an open courtyard decorated with bottle cap patterns on the ground. The site has been redesigned to welcome visitors as a cultural space.
The building was constructed in 1941 during Japanese occupation and served as the main factory for bottle cap production for Taiwan's Tobacco and Wine Monopoly Bureau. The structure was later repurposed as industrial heritage changed hands.
The converted factory now hosts exhibitions, workshops, and studios where local artisans create and display contemporary Taiwanese crafts. You can walk through and see how these makers work on their pieces.
The site is located near Nangang MRT Station and opens daily for visitors. It's easy to reach and makes for a good stop when exploring the neighborhood.
The factory preserves original bottle cap production equipment that shows how manufacturing once worked on the site. These machines now stand alongside modern artworks created in the studios there.
