University of Taipei, Public university in central Taipei, Taiwan.
The University of Taipei is a public institution with two locations in the Shilin and Zhongzheng districts. It comprises five colleges and offers degree programs in humanities, sciences, education, sports science, and arts.
The institution began in 1895 as a teacher training school and prepared educators for over a century. In 2013 it merged with a sports college, expanding its scope to include programs in sports science and physical education.
The school offers programs in music and visual arts that combine hands-on training with academic study. Students and faculty use campus facilities for performances and exhibitions that sometimes open to visitors.
The main campus sits near Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall metro station, while the Tianmu campus is accessible via Zhishan station. Campus buildings and courtyards remain open during the day, though some facilities may have restricted public access.
The sports science faculty runs specialized labs for movement analysis and exercise physiology, where researchers study performance data from athletes. Some of these research facilities collaborate with local sports teams and Olympic coaches.
