National Theater, Performance theater in Taipei, Taiwan
The National Theater features traditional Chinese palace architecture elements with two main halls and multiple smaller performance spaces within its structure.
The theater opened in 1987 as part of a TWD 7.4 billion cultural development project following the death of Chiang Kai-shek in 1975.
The venue regularly presents international ballet companies, orchestras, operas, and traditional Taiwanese performing arts throughout its annual programming calendar.
The theater contains 1,526 seats and connects directly to the Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall MRT station on the Taipei Metro system.
The building stands opposite the National Concert Hall across Liberty Square, forming a symmetrical architectural ensemble with its twin structure.
