Soulangh Cultural Park, Cultural center and museum in Jiali District, Taiwan
Soulangh Cultural Park is a cultural center built on the grounds of a former sugar factory, featuring 14 preserved warehouses that now serve as galleries, studios, and exhibition spaces. The site includes areas for art displays, a library, creative workshops, and facilities for artist residencies.
The site was established as a sugar factory in 1906 during Japanese colonial rule and continued operating for nearly a century. After closure, it was transformed into a cultural park that preserves both the industrial heritage and supports contemporary art.
The exhibitions showcase folk art traditions and the heritage of the Siraya indigenous people through displays in the gallery spaces. You can see how these artistic traditions continue to shape the creative life of the region today.
The grounds are easy to navigate with clear paths connecting the different exhibition spaces and studios throughout the site. Plan to spend several hours exploring the various buildings and galleries at your own pace.
International artists live and work on-site in specialized workshops practicing traditional crafts like blacksmithing and ceramics alongside their own creative projects. This exchange brings artistic approaches from around the world into dialogue with local handmaking traditions.
