Wanpi World Zoo, Wildlife park in Syuejia District, Tainan, Taiwan
Wanpi World Zoo is a zoological park in Syuejia District, Tainan, displaying animals from Africa, Asia, and other continents in thematically arranged areas. The facility is divided into several zones with open enclosures, terrariums, and spaces for waterfowl and large animals such as camels.
The park opened in 1994 as a private animal collection and gradually expanded its holdings with a focus on reptiles and amphibians. In the following years, rides and interactive areas were added to appeal to a broader audience.
The park combines animal viewing with local education programs about Taiwanese fauna and conservation. Families often visit the facility on weekends to introduce children to native and exotic species.
The facility is accessible daily between 10:00 and 16:00 and is located about 15 minutes by taxi from Xinying train station. Paths between enclosures are mostly paved, though some areas with slopes require a bit of stamina.
The reptile collection includes more than 200 species in climate-controlled enclosures, among them rare lizards and snakes from tropical regions. Some terrariums are viewable from multiple sides, allowing observation of animal behavior from different angles.
