Beimen Crystal Church, Art installation in Beimen District, Taiwan
Beimen Crystal Church is a transparent building spanning over a reflective lake, constructed entirely of glass panels. The walls create varying light effects depending on the time of day and weather conditions.
The structure was completed in 2014 as part of an effort to develop tourism in the district. The area had previously centered on salt production industries.
The glass building attracts couples planning weddings and photographers seeking reflective compositions of the surroundings. Visitors notice how the shifting light throughout the day creates different moods inside and around the structure.
The location is most easily reached from Xinying Station, which has regular bus connections to the area. It is best to visit early morning or late afternoon when the light reflects most beautifully off the glass and water.
Near the glass structure sits a white stone piano sculpture positioned over the water. Photographers frequently use this sculpture as a foreground element to frame shots of the building behind it.
