The Former Residence of Wu Jin-huai

This house is a traditional sanheyuan with three interconnected sections arranged around a central courtyard following classical symmetrical design. The structure contains original living quarters alongside exhibition areas that document Wu Jin-huai's life and musical legacy.

The building was constructed during a formative period in Taiwan's architectural development and reflects the design traditions of that era. Wu Jin-huai returned to Taiwan after studying music in Japan and became an influential figure in shaping local musical culture.

The residence displays Wu Jin-huai's musical instruments and handwritten scores that show his role in shaping Taiwanese folk music traditions. Walking through, visitors see how his personal belongings reveal the connection between his Japanese training and local musical practices.

The site is open from Wednesday to Sunday, and guided tours are available to help visitors understand the collection and layout. Check ahead about tour schedules since these visits provide much better context for exploring the space.

The building retains its original sanheyuan layout, an architectural form that is less commonly seen in Taiwan than other residential styles. This particular courtyard arrangement makes it a rare example of this traditional design approach.
