Penghu Aquarium, Public aquarium in Baisha Township, Taiwan.
The Penghu Aquarium is a facility for observing marine life in Baisha on the Penghu Islands. It has three exhibition areas displaying fish and other organisms from the Taiwan Strait and South China Sea.
The facility was founded in 1997 by the Fisheries Research Institute to study and display local marine ecosystems. It grew from efforts to build understanding of the diverse waters around the Penghu Islands.
The facility maintains exhibits of over two hundred fish species native to the waters within 800 kilometers of Baisha Township.
The facility can be explored in a few hours and is easy to reach on foot. Visitors should wear sturdy shoes and take time in the underwater tunnel, where fish can be observed from different angles.
The grounds feature garden and sculpture areas depicting marine creatures that extend the exhibition outdoors. These outdoor components create a comprehensive learning experience beyond typical indoor exhibits.
