Zhangyuan Bridge is a transportation bridge in Taitung County that spans a river valley in eastern Taiwan. It connects surrounding villages with a concrete structure and has become a key road for daily traffic between communities.
The bridge opened in 1986 and marked a significant improvement in transportation infrastructure for eastern Taiwan. The project helped connect remote villages more easily to larger towns in the region.
The bridge stands in Taitung County, where indigenous tribes including Amis, Puyuma, and Bunun represent one third of the local population.
The bridge is accessible from National Highway 9 and nearby bus stops serve the surrounding villages. Parking is available in adjacent communities, and the best time to cross is during daylight hours with good visibility.
