Beidou Giant Banyan

The Beidou Giant Banyan is a large fig tree in Beidou Township whose branches and aerial roots spread outward to form multiple trunks. This structure creates a natural canopy spanning the surrounding area with an extensive root system.

The tree stands at the site of the former Shezi Village, which was rebuilt in 1821 following conflicts between immigrant groups from mainland China. This location embodies the resilience of a community that restored itself after upheaval.

The tree serves as a focal point for local wishes and prayers, where visitors regularly leave incense and offerings. This practice weaves the daily hopes of the community into a place that has united generations.
